CLAT 2026 Result and Admission Overview

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has officially released the CLAT 2026 Result on December 16, 2025. This follows the nationwide entrance examination conducted on December 7, 2025. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is the most prestigious entrance exam for law aspirants in India, providing access to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programs in 24 National Law Universities. Candidates who participated in the exam can now access their scorecards by logging into the official portal using their mobile number and password. The result highlights the candidate’s performance across various sections and their All India Rank (AIR).

Eligibility Criteria and Selection Process

For the UG program (BA LLB, BBA LLB), candidates must have passed their 10+2 examination with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST categories). For the PG program (LLM), an LLB degree with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST) was required. The selection process for CLAT 2026 involves the written entrance test, followed by a centralized online counseling process. During counseling, seats are allocated based on the candidate’s merit rank and the preference of NLUs provided during the registration phase. Document verification and fee payment are the final steps to secure admission.

Next Steps for Candidates

After downloading the CLAT 2026 Scorecard, successful candidates must register for the counseling process. It is essential to keep all original documents ready, including educational certificates, category certificates (if applicable), and identity proofs. The Consortium will release multiple allotment lists based on the availability of seats across participating universities such as NLSIU Bengaluru, NALSAR Hyderabad, and others.
