Current issues of national and international importance, Engineering Metallurgy, Material Science, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), Ethics and values in Engineering profession, Project Management, Standards and Quality practices, Energy and Environment.
Paper II: Civil Engineering
Building Materials, Solid Mechanics, Structural Analysis, Design of Steel Structures, Design of Concrete and Masonry structures, Construction Practice, Planning and Management, Fluid Mechanics, Open Channel Flow, Pipe Flow, Hydraulic Machines, Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Surveying and Geology, Transportation Engineering.
Paper II: Mechanical Engineering

UPSC ESE 2026 Exam Overview
The Preliminary examination is scheduled to be held on 08 February 2026 in an offline OMR-based mode. The UPSC Engineering Services selection process is rigorous, comprising a Preliminary Exam (Objective), a Main Exam (Conventional), followed by a Personality Test/Interview.
