RRB JE Recruitment 2026 Notification Overview

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has officially announced a significant recruitment drive for the post of Junior Engineer (JE) under the Centralized Employment Notice (CEN – 05/2026). This recruitment aims to fill 4098 vacancies across various zones. Engineering enthusiasts holding a Diploma or Degree in relevant fields have a golden opportunity to join the Indian Railways. The application window is scheduled to open in July 2026 and will remain active until August 2026.

Eligibility and Selection Process

Candidates must possess a Degree or Diploma in Engineering from a recognized institute. Specific roles like JE (IT) and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant require specialized qualifications. The selection process is rigorous, comprising CBT Stage I, CBT Stage II, Document Verification, and a Medical Examination. Aspiring candidates should note that there is a negative marking of 1/3rd for every incorrect answer in the computer-based tests. The age limit is set between 18 to 33 years, with applicable relaxations as per government norms.

Application Fee and Refund Policy

The application fee for General, OBC, and EWS candidates is ₹500, while SC, ST, Female, and EBC candidates are required to pay ₹250. A notable feature of Railway recruitment is the fee refund policy: ₹400 will be refunded to General/OBC candidates and the full ₹250 to others after they appear in the Stage I Exam. Applicants are advised to ensure their bank details are correct during the form-filling process to facilitate this refund.
